A Sangue Fig

A Sangue is a fig from the Brindisi and Valle d’Itria regions of Italy, located on a peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. Its trees bear 5- and 7-lobed leaves with smooth edges. Amongst the leaves you will find medium-large size figs with an oblong, tear drop shape. Expect figs to ripen early in the season--in late August or early September (depending upon climate and growing conditions). The figs are known to have good attachment to the tree once the tree is established, and can ripen on the tree.

Some have wondered whether or not A Sangue can produce a main crop of figs without caprification. According to French Fig Farm, A Sangue has produced fruit with good attachment to the tree in northern New Jersey, US once the tree has become established.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
